Project: New Physician Boot Camp
Overview: The New Physician Boot Camp is a comprehensive 16 module training program designed for newly hired physicians at PM Pediatrics. This section, on Otic Foreign Body Removal, is part of a larger initiative aimed at refreshing essential skills needed in the pediatric urgent care setting.
Challenge: Previously, the training was delivered in-person through lectures. With the transition to a digital format, the challenge was to maintain the engaging and personal feel of live presentations while integrating the playful and child-focused branding of PM Pediatrics. The goal was to make the online experience as interactive and captivating as the traditional in-person sessions.
Solution: Utilized playful icons and animated characters in PM Pediatrics' branded colors. This approach not only reinforced the company's identity but also resonated with the pediatric focus, making the content more relatable and engaging for the target audience.
To emulate interactive presentation style, whiteboard functionality was Incorporated to mimic the experience of a live lecture. This feature allowed for dynamic explanations and illustrations, providing a sense of direct interaction and personal instruction.

Project: Scenario Base Quiz
Overview: The American Medical Association recently updated the CPT codes used for billing insurance companies. Incorrect coding can lead to underpayment or delayed payments. To address this, PM Pediatrics' Medical Coding Department needed an interactive quiz that simulates real-life scenarios physicians might encounter, helping them to apply the new coding rules correctly and understand the reasoning behind coding decisions.
Challenge: Develop an interactive quiz that: accurately replicated real-life patient scenarios that physicians face in practice, integrated authentic documentation for proper coding, and provided meaningful feedback to help physicians understand and correct their mistakes in coding.
Solution: Created an engaging, story-driven quiz using animated videos to present patient scenarios. This approach made the scenarios realistic and relatable, mirroring actual office situations. Included real-life notes and documentation examples alongside each scenario. This provided context and allowed physicians to practice coding with materials similar to what they would encounter in their daily work. Developed a comprehensive feedback mechanism that explained why a chosen billing code was incorrect. This feedback helped learners understand their mistakes and learn the correct coding practices by addressing specific errors and misconceptions.

Project: New Medical Coding Rules
Overview: Following recent updates by the American Medical Association to the CPT codes, PM Pediatrics needed a training solution to help physicians quickly understand and apply the new medical coding rules. Incorrect coding can lead to underpayment or delayed payments, making timely and effective training essential. This module is a section of a larger course
Challenge: The primary challenge was to develop a straightforward, easy-to-understand learning module on the new coding rules with a quick turnaround. The module needed to simplify the complexities of the updated CPT codes while ensuring that the information was clear and actionable.
Solution: Designed an easy-to-follow module that breaks down the new medical coding rules into clear, manageable steps. The content was structured to enhance comprehension and retention. Created a visual and textual presentation of the updated coding process. This included step-by-step guides and practical examples to illustrate how the new codes should be applied in real-world scenarios. Focused on delivering the module swiftly to meet the urgent training needs of PM Pediatrics. This involved streamlining content development and leveraging efficient production methods.

Project: Pediatric Palliative and Hospice Care for Respiratory Therapy Students
Overview: This is a section of a larger course. This piece is on pediatric palliative and hospice care, which is known to be a challenging topic for most students. The goal of this section is to help students understand the similarities and differences between hospice and palliative care, the role of the care team during this process, and how to communicate with families effectively. The program was designed to create an immersive learning experience that would allow students to walk through a case with a preceptor guiding them, making it feel more approachable and empowering for students.
Challenge: Pediatric palliative and hospice care is a complex topic, often surrounded by negative emotions such as sadness, fear, and discomfort. For many students, it can be difficult to approach this topic and understand how to navigate the complexities of end-of-life care. The challenge was to create a learning experience that would help students connect emotionally with the topic, making it more approachable and empowering for them.
Solution: Made an immersive story-learning experience using a case study to help students understand pediatric palliative and hospice care. The case study followed an RT intern, Kit, and her preceptor, Maya, as they introduced Kit to a patient transitioning to hospice care. To create an emotional connection with students, the case study was animated, with interactive activities to illustrate key challenges and complexities of caring for patients in end-of-life situations.
